At the end of the parking area (see "Directions to trailhead" below)  is an iron gate.
Don't go through this gate but look for a trail to the left.  Follow this trail a short
distance and you"ll see a rock ledge on your left about 3 feet high.  Climb up this (
the easiest place is at the far right) and follow the trail a short distance to
intersection with another trail.  A pile of rocks marks the spot.  Turn right.  Follow the
trail along a ridge and after awhile it begins to descend.  Continue along this trail
and eventually you will come to a rock outcropping with a great view of Panthertown
Valley looking to Little Green and Big Green.  This is a good spot to stop and rest
for a while and enjoy a snack or picnic.

After you've rested and had some water, continue on the trail as it leaves the rock
outcropping at the far side, a little to the left.   Begin to descend, then soon there's a
trail to the right.  Take this trail and continue to descend. When you come to an old
logging road turn right. Eventually cross a new wooden bridge and just beyond it
joins an old logging road.  Turn right.  Soon you'll reach "the crossroad" of
Panthertown Valley.  Turn right and follow the gravel road uphill (and you'll realize
just how much descending you've been doing since you left your car!)  Continue
along the gravel road until you reach that iron gate and the parking area.
