Aug 5 - Rhapsodie Falls Strenuous (Details) This is a strenuous hike to two dramatic waterfalls. The trail is steep and crosses a low creek several times, so bring sturdy shoes that will keep your feet dry. A hiking stick may help with the rock hopping over the creek. The base of each of the falls is a nice spot to rest and eat a snack, so bring two snacks along!
Hikes are Friday mornings unless otherwise noted.
Meet at the Amore Café and Coffee Shop at 8:45 am. (Park in front of the Citgo.) Leave at 9 am. Usually back by lunch unless noted.
Bring water and sunscreen. Wear appropriate footwear (Hiking boots strongly recommended).

July 22 - Snowbird Moderate (Photos) Beth Townsend of Cashiers will help us explore the Snowbird Mountain area of Glenville. Snowbird is an 1,850 acre private community with 13 landowners. The only amenity in Snowbird is the trail system, a portion of which crosses each owner's individual property. The land was used in the late 1800-early 1900s for cattle and cabbage farming, and was settled by families such as the Keeners, Wades, Whitts, and DuPrees. There are currently six completed homes and four camp/destination structures at Snowbird. The hike will last about two hours (plus driving time). Bring lunch. (No dogs, please.)
Aug 19 - Graveyard Fields Easy. (Details) Hike to a completely different world along the Blue Ridge Parkway. A devastating fire in 1925 cleared the canopy and left stumps that resembles tombstones. The hike offers fantastic views and two waterfalls.
Aug 12 - Courthouse Falls Moderate (Details) The first part of this trail is a little steep as you hike over Big Fork Ridge, but just take it slowly if you want to and once you start down the other side the rest of the hike is a breeze. All in all it's a beautiful walk through a lush forest and near the end there is a short side trail to one of the most picturesque waterfalls in the area.
